How is upholstery and upholstered furniture produced?

Sofas, armchairs, chairs, beds, cushions, and upholstered furniture in leather and fabric for both indoor and outdoor use are entirely designed and produced at the MC5 headquarters in Oderzo (TV).

The process is divided into six phases to ensure meticulous craftsmanship by specialized personnel while reducing time and material usage.

01 Frame preparation

The wooden frame and the various supports, such as rigid and soft foam, are covered with a cotton or synthetic fibre fabric that insulates from the subsequent upholstery phase.

At MC5, the padding materials used include standard or fire-resistant polyurethanes, feathers, rigid or cold foams, and high-quality water-based or solvent-based glues.

Fabric cutting

The fabric cutting is performed both manually and in multiple layers using automated single-layer or multi-layer cutting machines.

At MC5, we can cut fiber fabrics, leather, and eco-leather.

03 Lining stitching

The lining stitching is essential to guarantee the quality, fit and durability of the upholstered product. Upon request, embroidery and silk screen printing can be done to customise fabrics and labels.

At MC5, we perform various types of stitching: linear, double-needle, cut-and-sew, topstitching, gathering, embroidery, and quilting.

Structure and lining assembly

The frame and supporting padding are covered with the upholstery fabric to finally give shape to the finished product.

MC5 personnel take the utmost care in hand-assembling each sofa, chair, armchair, bed, and other upholstered furniture pieces for both indoor and outdoor use.

05 Quality control

Constant supervision allows series production with no room for error.

“Right the first time!” is the greatest achievement we can attain at MC5 because it means we have minimized resource waste while ensuring delivery times are met.

Packing

The finished product can be packed either in a standard way or in customised packaging provided by the customer.

Depending on the requirements, orders can be delivered both in Italy or abroad with flexible scheduling.
